Former Governor of Taita Taveta County, Granton Samboja, took to social media on Monday to share a powerful message of forgiveness and reconciliation.
In a post on his Facebook page, the former county leader reflected on the beauty of life, the inevitability of human mistakes, and the importance of forgiveness in fostering peace and harmony.
“Life is a beautiful journey. While doing it, we cross paths with so many people knowingly and unknowingly. Because we are mortal beings, we make mistakes too. That’s what makes life,” Samboja wrote.
Samboja, who was elected the second governor of Taita Taveta County after John Mruttu, urged his followers to embrace forgiveness and understanding, acknowledging that no one is perfect.
“Let’s learn to be accommodative to forgive each other every time. No one is perfect. Hata mimi siko perfect. We live by the grace of God,” he added.
In a personal and touching tone, Samboja extended an apology to his family, friends, colleagues, and the community, stating, “To my family, friends, colleagues, datuzens, elders, faith-based groups and institutions, mahali niliwakosea kwa njia moja au nyingine, naomba msamaha. I’m sorry!”
He emphasized that everyone makes mistakes, and life becomes more beautiful when forgiveness is practiced.
Samboja also took the opportunity to publicly forgive anyone who may have wronged him during his time in office and beyond.
“I take this opportunity to unconditionally forgive all those who wronged me in one way or the other. Let’s do life with peace and harmony,” Samboja wrote.
His heartfelt post concluded with a simple yet profound message: “Watu ni roho,” meaning “people are souls,” highlighting the deep connection between individuals and the importance of fostering understanding and compassion.
Samboja’s message resonated with many, with numerous comments expressing admiration for his humility and call for unity.

As Taita Taveta continues to grow and evolve, such sentiments of forgiveness and reconciliation are critical in building a stronger, more unified community.
