The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several parts of the country over the next seven days, from November 3 to November 10, 2026, raising expectations of continued wet conditions in various regions.
According to the department’s seven-day cumulative rainfall forecast, significant rainfall is expected across the western, central, southern and coastal parts of the country, with some areas likely to experience heavier downpours.
The forecast indicates that the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, parts of Central Kenya and sections of the southeastern region are likely to receive rainfall during the forecast period. Some areas are expected to experience moderate to relatively heavy rainfall, with isolated pockets recording between 50 and 100 millimetres.
In the southeastern region, including parts of Taita Taveta, rainfall is expected, although the distribution is likely to vary from one area to another. The coastal region and areas bordering the Indian Ocean also show indications of rainfall, with some locations likely to receive substantial amounts.
Other areas, including parts of northeastern Kenya such as Mandera, Marsabit and Wajir, are also expected to receive scattered rainfall, although much of the rainfall activity appears less widespread compared to the western and central regions.
The forecast further suggests that rainfall will not be evenly distributed across the country, meaning some locations may receive heavier amounts while neighbouring areas experience relatively lighter showers.
Residents, farmers and other stakeholders are encouraged to take advantage of the anticipated rainfall while remaining alert to possible weather-related risks, particularly in areas prone to flooding, flash floods and poor road conditions.
Farmers are also advised to monitor changing weather conditions and plan their agricultural activities accordingly.
